Featured Artist: Boulder Bassoon Quartet

The Boulder Bassoon Quartet has a show TONIGHT! Woah. Here's how they roll:

Describe your work in 10 words or less:
Original and familiar tunes - all on bassoons.

Tell us about one of your favorite encounters with art in Boulder:
“Darrelpalooza.” Our first performance was a benefit concert for a fellow bassoon student battling cancer. We teamed up with all the bassoonists at CU plus renowned composer and Boulder resident Bill Douglas. It worked! We reached a large audience, surpassed fundraising expectations and, best of all, our friend is now the cancer-free bassoon professor at Louisiana State University.

If you could collaborate with any artist in Boulder, who would it be and why?
An architect, to create a much-needed performing arts center in Boulder.

What will you be doing for Boulder Arts Week?
We’re performing Saturday 3/29 at 7:30pm at the Boulder Piano Gallery.
Come listen to the warm, dark, reedy voice of the bassoon as we play selections from original works and familiar arrangements, including pieces by local composers Bill Douglas and Kent Hurd.

Then what?
We have a big, ambitious project in the works culminating with an international trip! We’ll be performing at Boulder International Fringe Festival and many other interesting venues in the fall.
