The Boulder Ensemble Theatre Company opens their latest production just as Boulder Arts Week kicks off! Producing Ensemble Director Stephen Weitz took some time out of his busy schedule to fill us in on the haps.
Describe your work in 10 words or less:
Wonderful stories. Wonderfully told.
Tell us about one of your favorite encounters with art in Boulder:
I remember walking into the Chautauqua Auditorium when I first moved to Boulder and thinking, “what a fantastic space!” I still think it’s a tremendous place to experience art.
If you could collaborate with any artist in Boulder, who would it be and why?
I’ve always dreamed about collaborating with Frequent Flyers on an “aerial combat” piece.
What will you be doing for Boulder Arts Week?
BETC will be presenting the world premiere of And The Sun Stood Still by Pulitzer-finalist Dava Sobel. This piece about the life of Copernicus is a tremendous bridge between the scientific and cultural parts of our community.
And The Sun Stood Still will run until April 20th and then we close out our 8th season with a regional premiere production of This by Melissa James Gibson. We’ll also be announcing our new season on April 12. Stay tuned!
